Villa Biela is situated at an altitude of 646 meter at the foot of the Low Tatras, Central Slovakia. The romantic cottage for two is situated in a fabulous surrounding. It concerns a former summer kitchen of a farm complex. Villa Biela is built in authentic Slovak style and during reconstruction most of the work was done with recycled materials so the nostalgic atmosphere was preserved in the best possible way. The cottage is situated on the border of field and forest. There is no defined garden so you really feel one with nature.
The walls are more than two feet thick and are made of nature stone with clay in between, with has been the traditional way of building for hundreds of years. You enter at the front on the ground floor in the living room with kitchen, which includes a beautiful stone wood burning stove. The stove keeps the livingroom warm in the winter and you can also cook on it. The kitchen has a fridge with a small freezer and an electric cooker. The toilet is housed on the same floor, in the old smoke chamber where the meat was smoked in former days. The living room is cozy decorated and has a beautiful original wooden floor.
From the lounge you have access to the veranda that floats about two meters above the ground and from which you have a breathtaking view over the valley. The veranda provides everything needed to relax, including a spacious garden bench, table with chairs and a barbeque. When night falls, you have a magical view of the sky here with in the background the sound of the crickets. There is also a staircase in the living room to the ground floor where the romantic bedroom with double bed is situated as well as a luxurious shower and sink.
The cottage is rented includes linen, towels, kitchen textiles, electricity and final cleaning. In short, everything has been taken care of. Villa Biela is open in the summer and winter. In winter there are several skislopes. Within a radius of 30 km there are two beautiful slopes to visit. It is also possible to rent Internet (using your own laptop), to get your laundry done. You can order a delicious farm breakfast, filled picnicbasket or goulash soup. Also available in the farmshop are various farm products such as eggs, different kinds of marmelades, wines, honey from the valley, postcards and stamps ...
For daily shopping you should visit the village shop (approximately 10 minutes by car). Zvolen (30 km) and Banská Bystrica (50 km) are the places where you can enjoy the city, with its many restaurants and shops. The city of Banská Bystrica is one of the oldest cities in Europe. On the main square of Banská Bystrica you will find some beautiful Gothic and Renaissance houses and buildings, dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. Also there is a bell tower from 1567, definitely worth a visit! Hungary - Budapest is 140 km and is also a nice destination for a daytrip. Extensive information, hiking maps and brochures are available in the house. The travel distance to Villa Biela from Amsterdam is about 1500 km.
